PREMISES AND FACILITIES
“There are three teachers of children: adults, other children, and their physical environment.” – Loris Malaguzzi
The building where the preschool is located is monitored by the surveillance equipment. The entrance to the building is protected with the entrance door intercom and a security guard.
During the operating hours, access is through security entry only. In the morning, all pupils are welcomed by a responsible member of staff and monitored in the reception area until they are collected by the teacher. On their way out the procedure is the same. The outdoor section of the preschool is screened and the surveillance system provides quality control on both the premises and the reception area.
- We place all chemicals and detergents out of reach of children under lock and key.
- All the doors have anti-slamming protection, which reduces the risk of jamming a small child’s fingers.
- We protect all the wall edges and corners with soft covers and rubber protection.
- The radiators and electrical devises are all covered with protection so that children do not have direct contact with the heating surfaces or electricity.
- The mirrors and glassware are safe for children, they are unbreakable and their edges are blunt.
- All the toys at the preschool have certificates for use by children.
We strongly believe that the learning environment needs to be planned in the child’s best interest. The learning environment here is architecturally and functionally designed and equipped to support care and education, health and safety, respect for children, creativity and the practice of relationships.
Our indoors setting is organised across four spacious areas each of which is well equipped to bring the world to our fingertips. Each room has easy access to multimedia, technology, books, magazines, film and music for all to enjoy, engage with and learn from.
Learning takes place in small groups and provides an opportunity for teachers’ individual approach while collaborative activities give children a chance to learn how to team-work and interact.
-
We equip our library with “reading cells” where children who seek some time on their own may enjoy silent reading in a cosy environment. A wide range of books is available in three languages (English, Czech, and Russian) to produce an interest in prose, poetry and drama.
-
We have “learning corners” where children can discover the astonishing world of natural sciences, design, and technology. We are especially happy to own a sand-and-water table which develops children’s creativity and motor skills.
-
We pay special attention to the artistic education of children. Our preschool runs a comprehensive study programme which allows each child to find his/her own way of artistic expression.
-
We teach music in a practical way through singing and chanting, dance and play.Music is taught in a practical way through singing and chanting, dance and play.

The outdoor play area has a roof for shade and weather protection and has large skylights to provide natural light. Visibility across the playground is unobscured. The outdoor playing area is completely separate and protected from the sun by tall trees. We have a perfect view of the entire playing area, which is bordered by a hedge adjacent to the adjacent Desfour Gardens.
-
Our L-shape garden is a safe place to play and learn outdoors, where children can do Physical Education activities and play games. We equip the door with a combination lock, which secures our pupils inside and adds to the general safety at the centre.
-
All of our employees have valid health reports. Before registering their children parents are also asked to bring in a medical report that states that the child is healthy enough to attend preschool.
-
We keep the premises clean at all times. We isolate the entrance to the premises from the school itself. Children and employees who enter the premises change their shoes and go into the Clean Area wearing clean shoes.
-
We ask visitors to the Reception Area to put on disposable shoe protection to keep the surroundings clean. Through this, we minimize the amount of dust and dirt on the premises and teach children how to be hygienic with good habits.
-
Among other useful habits are toilet training plus the washing of hands before and after using the toilet/meals/ playing outdoors. We also teach them to brush their teeth, change clothes when necessary.
-
Children have their own separate toilet with a washing sink designed especially for their needs; the staff uses their own toilet. The potties are disinfected after each use and dried.
-
In case of illness, the preschool management asks the parents to keep their children until they are well again, and this also applies to work personnel.
-
We regularly disinfect the room surfaces and play area. The wall paint used at the preschool is cleanable, hygienic and harmless to children. All the room surfaces and toys are regularly disinfected. The wall paint used at the preschool is cleanable, hygienic and harmless for children.
